Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Cancels Class 10 Practical Exams

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced that there will be no practical exams for Class 10 students this year. The decision was taken to minimize the risk of infection and ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff.

Internal Tests Conducted by Schools to Replace Practical Exams – JKBOSE

Instead of practical exams, the board will rely on the internal tests conducted by the schools during the academic session. Schools will forward the 20 marks internal results of the students to the board, which will be used for evaluation purposes. This is a well-established procedure that has been followed in previous years as well.

External Practical Exams for Class 11 and 12

While Class 10 students will not have to take practical exams, JKBOSE will hold external practicals for Class 11 and 12. This decision was taken to ensure that students get the necessary hands-on experience in their chosen subjects and are adequately prepared for higher education.

Matriculation Exam for Class 10 Concluded Recently -JKBOSE

The Class 10 exam in soft zones of Kashmir was concluded recently, with more than 63,500 students appearing for the matriculation exam. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the exam was conducted smoothly, and students were able to complete it without any major issues.

Shift to March Academic Session in Line with National Education Policy (NEP)

The government had shifted the academic session to March last year, in sync with the National Education Policy (NEP). This move was aimed at bringing the academic calendar of Jammu and Kashmir in line with the rest of the country and providing students with more time to prepare for competitive exams. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, JKBOSE has been able to conduct exams and ensure that students’ academic progress is not affected.
